Inquiry of non-residency

It is possible to search for a person by entering a part of a code. In case you only know the beginning or end of the code, please enter a percentage mark (%) instead of the missing part of the code.

Response of the inquiry

  • If no persons are found as a result of the inquiry, the person's data is not in the database of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board or he or she is listed there as an Estonian resident.
  • If a person is found as a result of the inquiry, the person has been registered as a non-resident in the database of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board for a certain period of time.
  • The existence of the end date of non-residency in the response indicates the last day as a non-resident – from the day following this date, the person is a resident of Estonia.
  • The information on the certificate(s) of residency displayed in the response indicates that the certificate(s) of residency approved by a foreign tax authority has (have) been entered in the database of the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. It is important to check in which country the certificate has been issued and whether it is valid during the payout period.

The response is displayed according to the data currently known to the Estonian Tax and Customs Board. Please note that in certain cases residency data can be changed retroactively, so the residency information of a person may change after making the inquiry.

NB! If there is a need to check the tax residency of many persons at the same time, this can be done conveniently by using the X-tee service “Public inquiry for non-residency data”. More information here (in Estonian). In order to use the service, you must conclude an agreement with the Estonian Tax and Customs Board.
